On the 13th March 2024 about 30 Hailsham Young Farmers visited Deanland Airfield for a talk on Deanland during the war and now. They were also shown around the hangars to see the many various types of aircraft that fly from Deanland.

In 2023 Deanland was able to hold its first Charity Breakfast Fly-In since Covid. Over 120 full English breakfasts were served along with tea, coffee and cake. Thanks to the generosity of the Deanland residents and guests we raised £2,586.10. From January 2021 until the end of 2023 Deanland airfield and its residents have funded the planting of over 17,500 trees. These trees are planted to 110% off-set the carbon produced by flights made from the airfield. In 2023 over 4,000 trees and shrubs have been planted on the airfield, these include Alder, Aspen, Crab Apple, Birch, Field Maple, Goat Willow, Hornbeam, Common Oak, Scots Pine, Silver Birch, Sweet Chestnut, Walnut, Wild Cherry, Blackthorne, Dog Rose, Dogwood, Holly and Hazel.

An impromptu visit by an RAF Chinook to Deanland.

Following a donation of £200 by Deanland Airfield and Eastbourne & District Model Flying Club, the following message was received from Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance:

Good Afternoon Mr Brook,

The world is unpredictable, and medical emergencies happen. Your kind donation of £200 will help us to continue saving lives and providing cutting edge, pre-hospital care across Kent, Surrey and Sussex.

Air Ambulance Charity Kent Surrey Sussex (KSS) bring the emergency room to the scene and deliver life-saving care. We can perform open heart surgery, deliver anaesthetic and insert tubes to enable patients to breathe, and administer life-saving blood transfusions.

We can do all of this at the side of a road, on a beach, in a park - wherever our patients need us.

All of this is only possible due to the generosity of our supporters and fundraisers, like you and we can't thank you enough for making our work possible.
