The owners and resident pilots of Deanland have spent many years building and maintaining a harmonious relationship with our neighbours.
Please do not jeopardise years of hard work.
Read and understand our procedures, accurately fly our circuits - they are really simple, keep noise levels to a minimum and our reputation will not be damaged.
The main 24/06 Runway is on the west side of the airfield by the airfield boundary fence / hedge and has white markers either side. It should not be mistaken for the taxiway or short winter runway. The eastern side short winter runway is not available for visitor use.
Helicopters of all sizes are accepted - please fly the fixed wing circuit. Landing and Parking of all aircraft types is at your own risk.
Both the runway and helipad have 'edge lighting' which can be illuminated on request (non compliant).
Deanland has a short grass runway so you must be sure you and your aircraft are capable of operating safety to and from the airfield. We strongly recommend you visit the airfield by road before flying in.
We operate strict noise abatement procedures, particularly on arrival to runway 24 and departure from runway 06. Please read all the information in this section to be fully briefed. When calling for PPR you will be asked to confirm you have read, understood fully all procedures. There are Red & White ground markers on the 24 arrival and 06 departure route. You MUST always fly to the South East of these markers. Leave them well to your left on departure from 06 and have then to your right on approaching 24. They are not the approach / departure line, they are markers not to be crossed!!
Several joins are available, but all must be conducted with reference to the 'AVOID' areas for noise abatement reasons which includes overflight whilst landing. Circuits are always to the north west: right hand on 24 and left hand on 06. Two miles out on approach to 06 is a private airfield, beware of conflicting traffic.
Downwind: both runways accept a downwind join.
Standard Overhead: RH for 24, LH for 06.
Crosswind: Fly over the centre of airfield at 1000ft AAL and turn 90 degrees onto Downwind.
Long Final:An off-set long final is available on Runway 24 only. However make at least two 'long final' radio calls giving your range and confirming you will be 'giving way to circuit traffic'. If there is circuit traffic then amend your join and broadcast your revised intentions.
Base: Circuit Joins Left Base for runway 06 and Right for runway 24 are acceptable, giving way to circuit traffic.
Be aware and avoid Kittyhawk airfield to the South West of Deanland. Its curcuits are all flown to the South and you can contact them on ‘safety comm’ 118.265 MHz.
Please fly an accurate fixed wing circuit as detailed above, flying the off-set arrival for 24 and departure for 06. Make your approach to the centre of the runway then turn south east towards the helipad, as per the purple route above, to keep well away from parked fixed wing aircraft.
Runway 24 maintain runway track and just short of Kittyhawk (solar farm) turn left or right on track, keeping well clear of the AVOID areas.
Runway 06 Make an immediate 10 degree turn to the right to keep the Red & White ground markers well to your left hand side. There are 6 you will see as you climb away to pass the camper / caravan sales site on your left as you cross the A22, continue a further 0.2 miles before turning on route.
For 06 Departures take extreme care not to drift over noise sensitive areas to the left or right.
You will be asked to confirm you have read and understood our landing, take off and noise abatement procedures when requesting PPR
